"Productive Maternal Meat Sheep"
Coopworth History
The Chrome Coopworth Stud was founded, with the purchase of 69 ewes from Clifton Hill in 2005. These ewes together with their 05 drop ewe lambs, have formed the basis of the stud. In late 2009 the Clifton Hill Coopworth Stud was offered for sale and we were able to secure the best of the mixed age Stud ewes and the 2009 drop rams, which we offered for sale in 2010. Early 2011 saw us complete the Clifton Hill purchase with the delivery of the 2009 drop ewes. The Clifton Hill flock was one of the founding studs of the Coopworth breed in Australia and was operated by John and Sue Marriott up until the time of its dispersal. Meticulous data collection over many years has resulted in many of the Clifton Hill sheep sitting in the Top 10% of the Coopworth breed on Lambplan performance data. The Clifton Hill sheep have been run under very high stocking rates, probably harder than many commercial operations over the years. Heavy culling for temperament has resulted in a flock of extremely quiet and easy to handle ewes. The Chrome Coopworth flock of today is predominately of Clifton Hill and New Zealand bloodlines
